Position: Rector

Location: Syracuse, NY

Holy Trinity is a small parish in Syracuse, New York under CANA and a member of the Anglican Church in North America. We are a just under five years old, and have grown to an average Sunday attendance of 35 people, most of whom are former Episcopalians. Our part-time rector of the last three years has retired, and we now have a part-time interim vicar on each Sunday. We are financially strong with a surplus of receipts over expenses each month. We are in a comfortable rented storefront in a commercial urban neighborhood, but we are looking for a more permanent location.

Our church needs a rector who will serve at least half-time, and who has a vision and the energy to grow an Anglican Church beyond being merely a remnant for former Episcopalians. He must be eligible to be a canonically resident priest in CANA under our bishop, The Rev. Julian Dobbs. Jesus intends that his church reach out to others, even when this means being uncomfortable. We are ready to do that, but we need a leader with the vision and drive to grow the church numerically and spiritually beyond our current place. As to other qualifications, we are open to candidates of any qualifications or experience from recent seminary graduate to retired clergy with many years of experience. Compensation shall be discussed between the candidate and the parish.

Position: Director Evangelism/Outreach Ministries

Location: Tallahassee, Florida

Introduction:

All Saints Anglican Church was formed in July 2006 after much prayer, reflection, and planning, in order to provide a faithful Anglican witness to Christ our Lord in northwest Tallahassee. We are a founding congregation of the Anglican Church in North America and of the Gulf Atlantic Diocese under the episcopal leadership of the Rt. Rev. Neil Lehbar.

We embrace the three principal streams of the Christian Faith:

We are Evangelical, affirming the importance of a personal conversion to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and embracing the Holy Scriptures as God’s Word for faith and faithful living;

We are Catholic, with liturgical worship centered on the weekly celebration of the Holy Eucharist and sharing in the sacramental expression of Christian living, acknowledging the Church as the Body of Christ and Christ and the Head of the Church, with bishops as the focus of unity in Faith

We are Charismatic, recognizing that all members of the Body of Christ are gifted and empowered by the Holy Spirit for ministry and for sanctification.

All Saints Mission Strategy:

The present congregation is composed of faithful, committed Christians who are older in age than the surrounding area. Our vision and desire is to participate in the Great Commission through the evangelization of northwest Tallahassee.

Considering the following key demographic features of this area, we have formulated a mission strategy which will require the Director of Evangelism/Outreach Ministries to lead this effort.

According to the latest demographic data available from www.ZIPskinny.com, northwest Tallahassee is composed largely of well educated younger families. Over 90% of residents have a high school education, with 41% having a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Median household income is $37,850, about 36% of households have an income exceeding $50,000.

Management and professional occupations account for 43% of employment while sales and office work account for another 31%.

About 70% of the population is white, with blacks accounting for another 23%. There are small numbers of Hispanics and Asians in the area.

A key demographic affecting our missionary strategy is the median age of our zip code: 29.7 years. This, no doubt, is influenced by the presence of Tallahassee Community College just to the southwest of our area and Florida State University to our southeast. However, about 54% of the area is made up of persons 20 to 49 years of age, with the majority of these being under 40.

The presence of young families is illustrated by the fact that within a mile of All Saints there are two large elementary schools.

After consultation with Bishop Lehbar and the Rev. Canon Jim Hobby, All Saints is calling for the employment of a Director of Evangelism/Outreach Ministries matching the dominant profile of the area.

Primary responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement a plan for the evangelization of the un-churched young families and individuals resident in northwest Tallahassee.

2. With the Rector, develop and implement a plan to incorporate these persons into the life of All Saints.

3. Assist with Sunday worship, being responsible for preaching once each month.

4. If so discerned by Bishop Lehbar and the Vestry of All Saints, become Rector of All Saints not later than the end of the first quarter of 2013 when our present Rector, the Rev. Dr. Gil Crosby, retires.

Position Qualifications:

Ordained priest (or deacon) in the Anglican Communion, or has completed the discernment process and is on track to complete the education/training for ordination in the Anglican Communion within the next year

Applicant to send current CV or resume and CD or web link to current sermon

The heart and drive to reach young adults and young families with the Gospel

 Compensation:

The present budget of All Saints contains $10,000 which will be available to assist in the compensation of the evangelist during the second half of 2011. Some additional funds may be available from the Diocese, but this is not certain at present. Thus the person called to this position will need to supplement his income either by serving as a “tentmaker”, or through raising support from congregations and individuals for the first two years.

In 2012, an additional $18,000 to $19,000 will be available in the All Saints budget bring the compensation package to a total of $28,000 or $29,000.

Contact:

Anyone who would like to explore this possible call further should send CV and sermon CD to our Senior Warden:

Mrs. Betty Ann Watkins

2130 Faulk Drive

Tallahassee, FL 32303
