Position: Priest (full-time position)
Location: St. Matthew's Anglican Church (Lapeer, MI)
*Under the Diocese of Bolivia, the church is a member of the Anglican Communion Network and International Convention
AAC Affiliate? No
Description: St. Matthew's Anglican is an orthodox Anglican mission parish under the Diocese of Bolivia. It is located in Lapeer, Michigan, which is 45 miles north of Detroit, in an area with an expected growth of 10% per year, and close to hundreds of new homes and thousands of un-churched individuals. The core membership of the church left The Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Eastern Michigan at the same time as did their priest, Fr. Steven Dewey, in January 2005. The church cites "the threat to our eternal salvation and the hostile non-inclusive environment of the Episcopal Church" as leading to their decision. St. Matthew's was founded under Fr. Dewey's leadership on Jan. 1, 2005. However, in October 2006, Fr. Dewey went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer. He laid a foundation for the church's mission structure, and the church now seeks a priest to lead them in finishing the construction.
The church's foundation is based on the Great Commandment and the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ as written in Matthew. The church's organizational structure is based generally on the “Purpose Driven Church", and modeled after Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, CA, under the leadership of Pastor Rick Warren. St. Matthew's has education programs in place for membership, discipleship, determining spiritual gifts or SHAPE for ministry, and finding your mission. The church also has Christian education for various age groups and many small groups. Go to www.stmatthewslapeer.org for more information.
The office of the church's ministry center (a rented facility) is computer networked and has state-of-the-art office equipment. All services, education, and activities primarily occur there. Small groups currently meet at the ministry center or at the homes of members. The church also has access to a chapel with seating for up to 400 for special occasions. Other local congregations have graciously opened their facilities to us as the need arises.
Requirements/Qualifications: The church seeks a priest who is a shepherd and guide who:
-Holds to the orthodox faith (believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God)
-Supports the traditions of the church in dress and manner of services
-Is educated in classical language
-Possesses an orthodox theological bachelor's degree
-Believes the focus of Anglicanism is building the Kingdom of God, not church organizational structure; a priest who has put TEC in the past
-Will continue the education and ministry of the parish and grow with the congregation in knowledge and resources
-Will continue the church's visible outreach in the community and empower members to be ministers in the community and missionaries to the world

The possibilities are almost limitless with potential for ministry to small rural towns and growing suburbs, church planting, teaching, healing ministry, and more. Serve like St. Paul and generations of Christian workers throughout the centuries.
Requirements/Qualifications: Clergy who are teachers, medical professionals, lawyers, or who hold other employable skills will find significant needs for both of their ministries: their workplace vocation as well as their vocation in the Church.
