Nairobi (ENI). A Kenyan Anglican bishop has criticised counterparts in central and southern Africa for saying they will not dissociate themselves from the U.S. Episcopal (Anglican) Church over the consecration of homosexuals and lesbians to the episcopate. "The church in central Africa is still very young and in a minority," Anglican Bishop Julius Kalu of Mombasa told ENInews on 31 August while noting that "most of the large provinces like Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya" agreed acting against the U.S. church. He noted that the bishops were happy that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, at a meeting with African Anglican bishops had listened to their reasons why they are opposed to homosexuality. Kalu was speaking after the 2nd All Africa Bishops Conference held from 23-29 August in Entebbe, Uganda and which was organized by the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa.
